Bennie-Playful Pup

This super little dog is Bennie. Bennie is a 20 month old Shih Tzu. He weighs 18 lbs.

He has a sad story. He was purchased as a puppy by an older couple. After Bennie moved to his new home, the husband had a stroke. The wife was trying to care for a sick husband and a puppy. Bennie acts as if he spent a lot of time in his crate. It is easy to see how there was very little time to socialize Bennie with everything going on. Then to top things of the wife found that she needed to go in for surgery. She decided that she was unable to care for Bennie and surrendered him to an animal shelter. That is a lot of change for a dog that isn’t even two years old yet.

Poor little Bennie wasn’t sure what was going on. He was abandoned at a noisy shelter with lots of other dogs and nobody he recognized.

When I went to look at him he barked at me for 20 minutes. He did not want to come out of his crate where he felt somewhat safe. He did not want to have anything to do with any of the people there. When I first got him home, he didn’t really want anything to do with me either. It took him a couple of days to realize he was safe, and I was ok. After that he started following me everywhere. He is a funny little pup. He loves to be held and petted. He also likes playing with his toys. When he wants attention or he wants a toy, he will sit up on his back legs and wave his paws in the air at me. It is hard to realize this is the same scared pup that was in the shelter.

Once he knows you, Bennie is a gentle, playful and loving little dog. He has very good basic manners and will sit and lay down on command. He loves to snuggle and play. Bennie is not yet totally housetrained, but we are working on it. If you are an experienced dog owner and are looking for a loving addition to your family, you will want to consider Bennie.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

BENNY - PLAYFUL PUP, a Plano Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Plano, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Plano.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Plano already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Plano breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Plano paves the way for another one to be saved.
