Scooter's Story...
About Scooter
Meet Scooter, a low-riding combination of Basset and Pointer with a joyful disposition that can send him galloping around a yard on his short, little legs, with his ears flapping happily in the breeze. Scooter is probably 1 to 2 years old, so he's fully grown at a very sturdy 50 pounds, and we are pleased to report that he has tested negative for heartworm disease. And Scooter's foster family tells us that this happy-go-lucky fellow appears to be housetrained and that Scooter love, love, loves to engage in active play with other dogs.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Scooter, a Baton Rouge Basset Hound/Pointer dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Basset Hound/Pointer for sale in Baton Rouge, or seeking a Basset Hound/Pointer dog from a breeder in Baton Rouge.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Baton Rouge already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Baton Rouge breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Basset Hound/Pointer breeders who help with Basset Hound/Pointer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Baton Rouge paves the way for another one to be saved.
