Katarina is the queen of the colony! She is more on the independent side but still loves attention. She tolerates other cats here at the shelter. But she just wants to be your one and only cat, and we don't think there's anything wrong with that! Katarina lived in a home with a child in the past, and we think she could do so again provided that the children are respectful of her. A cute secret about Katarina? She LOVES the laser pointer. She will chase it for hours if you'll play with her for that long! She is a sweet girl that needs her chance at a forever home, will you be willing to give that to her?

About SPCA of Northern Nevada

About Our Shelter...

The mission of the SPCANN is to be an innovative regional leader in responsible treatment of homeless cats and dogs, primarily through their rescue and placement in forever loving homes, and by promoting spaying and neutering to control pet overpopulation. We accomplish our mission with dedication to our core values and a lifetime commitment to our animals.

We are Reno's first no-kill animal shelter, founded in 1998. Each year our shelter develops more progressive programs such as our Rural Rescue Program where we aggressively rescue animals from rural animal control agencies and support their joint efforts to move animals out of their facilities and into ours to avoid euthanasia. We also have expanded our reach into schools with our Humane Initiative Program where we teach and show compassion to animals. We have more programs and many projects on the horizon - visit our website to see more!!!

Come Meet Our Pets...

We have events througout the year to highlight our adoptable animals. One favorite event each year is our local public swimming pool closes to the public in the fall and the very last day the pool is open only to dogs in the community. Shelter dogs play, splash and mingle with public dogs in two pools and cool off for the final hot days of the summer.

We post our events on our website and Facebook and through other various media outlets.

Our Adoption Process...

The SPCA of Northern Nevada has an adoption process that involves a fee, adoption application, Meet and Greets with prospective humans and other companion dogs in the same household and children. We do have specific requirements for an adoption. We strive to really ensure a great match!
