Here's what the humans have to say about me:
There aren’t many Rottweilers named Precious. When you read her story you will understand why her name fits her so well.
Precious was originally picked up as a stray in small town of Caney, Kansas. Many Rottweilers are euthanized every day in shelters. The bully breeds are usually the first to die. The Animal Control Officer there saw something special in her, he was the one who gave Precious her name. Precious patiently waited for a home or rescue. The Animal Control Officer chose to let her live and bought her flea/tick and heartworm meds out of his own pocket. Precious finally caught a break and the Wisconsin Rottweiler Rescue committed to her. The Animal Control Officer drove 3 hours one way to get her on a transport to safety.
Just when Precious’ luck finally turned, the founder of the Wisconsin Rottweiler Rescue passed away suddenly and she found herself in need of rescue again. Precious is safe with us until she finds her forever home.
Precious is a 4-5 year old 88 pound Rottweiler. Her disposition is exceptional, all she wants is love. Her favorite place is wherever you are, leaning against you with her head in your lap looking adoringly into your eyes. Precious is good with most other dogs and has ignored the cats in her foster home. She is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm tested, microchipped and housetrained.
Precious has a cranial cruciate ligament rupture. Basically the ligament that holds her knee together is torn and not doing its job keeping her knee stable. This knee is very painful for Precious, despite the pain she is incredibly sweet. Precious will have knee surgery on October 13th at IVRC in Des Moines. It’s a very common injury in large breeds.
We are looking to put Precious into a foster to adopt situation. Fur Fun Rescue will pay for her knee surgery and would like to put Precious in her forever home while she recovers. Her activity will be limited for 6-8 weeks after surgery. She won’t be allowed to run or play hard and will need to be walked on a leash until her knee is healed. After that she can resume her normal activity and we will complete her adoption.
If you are interested in meeting Precious, please start the adoption process by completing the adoption application on our website at www.furfunrescue.org. If you have any questions about Precious, please contact rox@furfunrescue.org or call 319-929-6657.
