Meet Oscar! This 45-lb terrier mix is an awesome size and energy level. Oscar is playful and loves to go on outdoor adventures. However, he also enjoys napping and snuggling! Oscar is completely housebroken and does not need to be crated when he is left at home along. He definitely knows a few commands, like sit, and he is working on some other basic commands. He is very smart and listens very well. He is energetic but also calms down quickly and loves to just lie near you and chew on a toy. He also thinks he's a lapdog. He loves all people but he is a bit more selective with his canine friends. He does best with other dogs of a similar size and activity level. He is not always aware of his size, so he is not a good match for very small dogs or cats.

The Louisiana SPCA is located at 1700 Mardi Gras Blvd. in Algiers, LA.

About Louisiana SPCA

About Our Shelter...

Chartered in 1888, the Louisiana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (LA/SPCA) is the oldest and most comprehensive animal welfare organization in the state. Our mission is to advocate for the animals of Louisiana by advancing their welfare, promoting their interests, and fostering the human-animal bond through innovative programs, education, and service.

The LA/SPCA is not a state, parish or city governed shelter. We are an independent 501(c)3 non-profit offering a broad range of services and programs including advocacy, legislative services, statewide cruelty investigations, sheltering, full-service animal control (Orleans Parish only), adoption, disaster response, education, and obedience programs.

Our Adoption Process...

The LA/SPCA pet adoption process includes meeting with a matchmaker to match your lifestyle with the perfect companion. You will spend time with any of the pets you think would be a great companion. You may even want to come back another day to make sure he is the one! All of our animals must be spayed or neutered before you can take them home. Sometimes your perfect companion has not had this procedure done, so please be patient with us if you have to come back to pick him up.

All of our animals have been spayed or neutered before they are released for adoption. We encourage anyone with animals to spay or neuter their pets.
