My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

** UPDATE **
Huey's brothers, Dewey and Louie went home in Virginia while Huey is still waiting for his family. He is currently fostered in Korea. We plan on bringing him to Northern Virginia in late December upon finding perfect family for him.
-------------------------------------
This 1-year-old, 30 lb boy is one of the three brothers rescued on the brink of getting sold to dog meat market in Korea. The "owner" of the brothers had tied them in an abandoned house, fed them only occasionally, and waited for them to grow big enough to sell.

In spite of the rough beginning, Huey is very affectionate and loves to be around people. He loves to be petted and enjoys belly rub. He is so happy with huge smile whenever he meets you, which will make you smile no matter how rough your day has been.
Also, he is good with other dogs and likes to play. He was low in pack hierarchy which would put him in disadvantage in a group. Now he is a gentle but confident dog after completion of 3-month extensive training course.

He can be a clever escape artist and needs a home with a fenced yard. Someone who is experienced with dogs would be preferable. He will do best when provided a stable home with routine exercise, play and training.

We typically do not adopt to homes with children under 8 years old; homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking may often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.

If you are interested in Huey, please email us with a little info about you: your family, your other pets, your experience as a dog owner (which breed, etc.), where you live (which city? home or apt?), etc. including a telephone number where we can contact you.
