Here's what the humans have to say about me:
*** Watch Dewey sing! He is the one on the left in the video.
This 1-year-old, 30 lb boy is one of the three brothers rescued on the brink of getting sold to dog meat market in Korea. The "owner" of the brothers had tied them in an abandoned house, fed them only occasionally, and waited for them to grow big enough to sell.
Now, all three brothers are safe under foster care, but still need home they can call their own. They are neutered and fully vaccinated.
In spite of the rough beginning, Dewey is very affectionate and loves to be around people. He loves to be petted, cuddle, and snuggle on your lap.
Dewey is the calmest and the most sensitive of the three, attuned to your feelings with a strong desire to please. He is smart and learns quickly. This friendly love bug is good with other dogs, too.
He can be a clever escape artist and needs a home with a fenced yard. Someone who is experienced with dogs would be preferable. He will do best when provided a stable home with routine exercise, play and training.
We typically do not adopt to homes with children under 8 years old; homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking may often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
*Dewey will be coming from South Korea to the Fairfax, VA area to find his forever home. If you are interested in Dewey, please email us with a little info about you: your family, your other pets, your experience as a dog owner (which breed, etc.), where you live (which city? home or apt?), etc. including a telephone number where we can contact you.
