Axel is an adorable 1 year old Rottweiler/Shepherd mix. Currently, he weighs about 60 pounds, but don’t let his massiveness fool you! He is nothing more than a big ol’ baby! Upon meeting him, you will see that his primary goal is simply to give you big slobbery kisses!! He loves all people, and he does well with other dog!. He has yet to be tested with cats, so we are unsure how well he does with them as of right now. If you do have cats in your home, we would be more than happy to test him to find out his compatibility with your furry little lovers! Come meet this handsome boy and see for yourself just how sweet this ol’ lug really is!

Axel is heartworm positive, but RARE will cover the treatment with our veterinarian at no extra cost to the adopter. Heartworms are treatable and dogs can live healthy, fulfilling, and amazing lives after treatment. Please don't let this stop you from giving an animal a good home that it deserves and needs so desperately. We will be happy to answer any questions that you may have.

*****AN APPLICATION AND HOME VISIT ARE REQUIRED!*****

Please visit www.RuralAnimalRescueEffort.org for foster and adoption applications or for additional information.

All of our pets are or will be spayed/neutered, up to date on all vaccines prior to adoption. Please complete the application on our website and we will call you to answer any questions you may have.

Our adoption fees not only help the animal being adopted, but they also help to cover heartworm treatments and other treatable ailments that many animals, that would otherwise be euthanized, need to be made available for adoption.

Thank you for choosing to adopt, foster, or aid in the rescue efforts of RARE!

About Rural Animal Rescue Effort (RARE)

About Our Rescue Group...

Rural Animal Rescue Effort (RARE) is an organization that is dedicated to saving animals in rural areas, mainly in 'pounds' and shelters, both high-kill and no-kill. There tends to be a higher overpopulation rate in rural areas due to lack of animal ordinances and alteration to prevent unwanted litters. Many animals are 'dumped' on country roads left to parish or end up at the local pound or animal shelter if they have an empty kennel. Many of these animals have a limited number of days before they are euthanized. In addition to placing animals in foster and adoptive homes, networking with rescues to assist in placement and adoption of animals, RARE also performs fundraisers for spay/neuters and other vetting to prevent further overpopulation and promote quality of life for the animals we save.

Our Adoption Process...

Adoption fees cover all vetting for the animals in our care, including vaccinations, Heart-worm test, Heart-worm treatment if needed, Feline Leukemia test, spay/neuter and may vary, depending on species.

Fosters and Adopters will be required to complete an application with personal and Veterinary references. A home visit is also required.
RESCUES, please contact us regarding pull information or pull fee, if any, depending on vetting already provided by RARE.
