Betsy's Story...
Welcome Betsy! Betsy is a long, lean Pointer mix with a beautiful black coat. She is just around 1 year old and weighs about 46lbs. Due to her age, she may fill out a little but probably won’t get any larger than 50lbs or so.
Cats, dogs, children, you name it! Betsy loves them al! She currently lives with a cat and is very respectful of her space and listens to her boundary warnings. There are also three other dogs in the home with her and she loves to play with them. There are children in the house, ages 9+ and she believes that she is a lap dog for them! Despite them being about her size, she enjoys their attention and pets and will just sit down right in their laps! New friends are always welcome in Betsy’s circle! Structured introductions are not necessary and she would be a great dog park dog to let out some of that energy.
Around new surroundings, Betsy can be a little shy at first but she warms up very quickly. New people and dogs are another story though – she’ll trot right up and introduce herself without hesitation. Loud noises can be a bit frightening for her, but she’s pretty laid back for the most part. Throughout the day she gets short walks and play time with her other 4-legged siblings (well, the bipedal ones play with her too!), and that seems to be perfect to keep her relaxed. She also enjoys playing with her dog toys :)
Though Betsy isn’t 100% housebroken, she’s nearly got the hang of it! She can sleep through the night and she also keeps her crate clean. When she needs to go potty, she’ll signal by walking to doors and pacing, so Foster Mom is confident she’ll have it down in no time! Betsy likes to be in the same room as her humans and prefers not to be along. She is a very affectionate girl and so easy going. Her crate is a safe space for her where she enjoys taking naps and if someone is on the couch, she’s there in no time to dollop them with kisses!
If you’re looking for a sweet and gentle gal, Betsy may be the perfect fit for your family. After all, she lives with 2 cats, 3 dogs and 3 children and she enjoys all of their company! Hurry and apply before it’s too late!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Betsy, a Athens Pointer/Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Pointer/Labrador Retriever for sale in Athens, or seeking a Pointer/Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Athens.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Athens already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Athens breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Pointer/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Pointer/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Athens paves the way for another one to be saved.
