Maxi's Story...
This gorgeous girl was saved in a high kill shelter in South Carolina on her last day--they needed to make room for more dogs. She has been such a wonderful addition to her foster family! Maxi gets along great with the 15 other dogs in her foster home, and is super patient with the young puppies there. She plays well with the other dogs but is very submissive and does roll over when some of the alphas are a bit too much for her. She is wonderful with the little girls in the home and loves to stay with the people. As most border collies are, she is very smart. Maxi knows sit, lie down and shakes hands. She is even learning roll over! She rides well in a car. Border collies are too smart to be left idol and she needs stimulation. Another dog or an active family would be wonderful for her. Although she came to us with heart worms she has been treated and is now healthy. Maxi weighs about 50 lbs and seems to be 2 years old. She is ready for her own family! If you think she is the right girl for you, your FIRST step is to copy and paste this link to your web browser to fill out our online application, http://members.petfinder.com/~CT243/sampleform.html. Maxi has been treated for heart worms, spayed, up to date on shots and microchipped. Full vetting and transport up north are included in her $450 adoption fee. We cannot be certain what her true mix is but she does seem to be a pure bred Border Collie.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Maxi, a Westport Border Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie for sale in Westport, or seeking a Border Collie dog from a breeder in Westport.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Westport already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Westport breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie breeders who help with Border Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Westport paves the way for another one to be saved.
