Blackjack was actually an abandoned dog running in the country, miles from homes.  All efforts to find his owner have failed.  He was not chipped and was not wearing identification.  He is a little timid at first but shortly after caring for him, he is your best friend.

He is a typical Doxie in that he attaches to one person and he may be snappy at the others in a home, at least initially.  He is somewhat alpha and has been defensive with a puppy.  So he needs older playmates.  He is a happy dog, loves running around in the yard.  Well house trained, barks or scratches to be let outside.  A doggie door would be great for him.  Micro-Chipped.

His foster home now has several other dogs and Blackjack is near the smallest.  He still defends his snacks or sleeping space even with dogs 10 times his weight.  No fighting at all, just the little dog stance and bark.  The other dogs just walk away from him.  He also encounters adult cats and has tried to chase those.  Again, these dog-wise cats just jump up and away and that ends that.   But he tries!

About Friends for Life Animal Society

About Our Rescue Group...

Our group has a 10 acre site on the south side of Clinton, OK. We are hoping to construct a sanctuary on this property. The property will include a main building with a animal receiving area, an evaluation facility, a clinic, an isolation area, food preparation kitchen, a laundry, a vet's office, and administrative offices.

We will also have kennel buildings to house dogs and runs for proper excersice. A cattery adjacent to the main building. A cottage for the caretaker adjacent to the main building. Barn for storage of equipment and a fenced yard for large dogs or other animals. A walking trail for exercising dogs will also be included.

A crematory is also planned for proper disposal of animals.

Our Adoption Process...

When you adopt an animal either a dog or a cat, you are taking on a lifetime commitment. Healthy dogs and cats live to between 10 and 15 years. To raise a pet properly, you must take on the care and treatment to the fullest extent. That means that you have to have annual checkups to ensure their health, all immunizations must be kept up to date, and they must have the proper diet. In addition, the animal must be protected by having a secure and safe place to live and a clean and dry place to sleep.

If you are willing to take on this commitment, then you can make application to adopt a pet.
