Facts about Maggie
Breed: American Bulldog Mix
Size: Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
I am already spayed.
Maggie is a 3 year old american bulldog that was picked up as a stray by the Chicago Police Department and brought into our care. We don't know much about Maggie's past but we do know that it seems that people were not that kind to her. She is very nervous and shy and takes a long time to warm up to people. While she is unsure, she does eventually warm up to people and then she will let you pet her. We would recommend a home with no young kids because of her nervousness.
The South Suburban Humane Society is a 501(c )(3) organization that was started in 1970, serving the animal welfare needs of the entire south suburbs of Chicago. In the beginning, we handled all rescues, adoptions and provided foster care out of private homes. Since November 1973, our organization has been operating a 10,000 square foot open-door animal shelter in Chicago Heights, Illinois.
For forty years, our organization has helped tens of thousands of animals. We have grown from a small group of volunteers to an organization made up of volunteers and paid employees that were responsible for almost 4,400 animals in 2013. We offer extensive outreach programs including humane education, and community outreach events. We also operate two resale shops located in Steger, Illinois and Chicago Heights, Illinois that promote our organization, our animals and provide much needed income to support our humane work.
