Ozzy's Info...

I am already neutered, a special needs pet, in need of an experienced adopter, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.

Ozzy's Story...
Ozzy was advertised as Free to a Good Home on Craigslist and a concerned shelter volunteer rescued him and another dog named Max, who were both horribly neglected and took them to the local animal shelter. The vet was called in for an assessment and advised euthanizing them because of the terrible condition they were in. Both dogs had matted fur and toenails that had grown so long that they curled under into their paw pads. Both needed dental care and both had multiple growths on their bodies. Luckily, the shelter manager did not heed the advice of the vet and sought rescue for these two sweet boys. They contacted Recycled Doggies and now both are on the road to a better life. Ozzy and Max are both Cocker Spaniels thought to be at least 10 years of age. Ozzy has had his growths removed and multiple teeth extracted and he is ready to start his new life with a new forever family. Ozzy is deaf and suffers from dry eyes; and requires prescription drops for his condition. He is currently overweight (38 lbs) but now that he can walk on his feet without the pain of the nails, we are hoping he will begin to slim down. If you are interested in adopting from Recycled Doggies, please complete an adoption application through our website: THAT IS THE FIRST STEP IN OUR PROCESS. Please do not just show up at an adoption event and expect to adopt a dog that day - we need time to review your application ahead of time, which is why we ask that you submit your application ahead of time so you don't miss out on the dog you are hoping to adopt while you wait for your application to be reviewed. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, dewormed, heartworm tested (if over 9 months of age), and microchipped. We do not adopt outside our area, which we define as two hours drive time from downtown Cincinnati (zip code 45202 - use Google Maps to determine if you are within our area) NO EXCEPTIONS. This is for the safety of our dogs, so that in case an adoption does not work out, we can be sure that we can quickly get our dog back. We do not have a shelter or facility - all of our dogs live in volunteer foster homes. In order to not infringe on any more of the time of our foster families, we introduce our dogs to potential adopters at our weekend adoption events posted on our website - please do not request to meet the dog outside of an adoption event as we are unable to grant the request. If you have additional questions, please email

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ozzy, a Cincinnati Cocker Spaniel dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Cocker Spaniel for sale in Cincinnati, or seeking a Cocker Spaniel dog from a breeder in Cincinnati.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Cincinnati already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Cincinnati breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Cocker Spaniel breeders who help with Cocker Spaniel rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Cincinnati paves the way for another one to be saved.
