One stromy night 3 years ago, a very special puppy was born on the streets of Albany, Georgia. Times were tough but this puppy enjoyed growing up with his brothers and sisters. The puppy learned to play well with others, listen to mom, and came to enjoy suggle time! After several weeks the young pup decided to strike out on his own to find a family of his own.
He wandered from street to street looking in windows to see families having dinner and playing games. The puppy wanted nothing more than to join them. Unfortunately, no one wanted the special puppy. He lived his life on the streets scrounging for food and often going without.
After several years, his luck was turning! He was picked up by a nice lady. She took one look at him and knew he was special. She took the puppy to the Albany Humane Society to try and locate his owners since he was surely missed by someone, right? Wrong. No one was looking for the puppy. He was very sad. The shelter staffed named him Barkley.
Barkley was bathed, tested, and vaccinated. Unfortunately, all that time on the streets unprotected meant Barkley was heartworm positive. But that's ok! It's treatable! Barkley was taken to SWAC to recieve treatment for his heartworms that was provided by a very generous donor! He is still here and looking for a foster home until his treatment is complete!
