Jake is about an 11 month old Lab mix (we think, with catahoula). He is a playful, sweet, and cuddly pup who just wants to be around people, and be loved. When I say pup, I mean everything you think a puppy would do, but in a 60 lb frame (estimated to be 70 lbs)...he is always curious, and definitely requires patient owner(s) who are willing to take the time to train him properly so he can be the best house dog he can be!
Very sweet demeanor, and a bit quirky because of his size, and just wants to be a lap-dog! He is the best cuddle-bug at night! He is extremely food driven, since he was a stray. It's important to point out that he will greet you with a 'smile' full of teeth! That means he is happy, and is literally trying to smile and show his teeth. It took me off guard at first until I was informed by my vet, he is simply over-joyed to see you!
Jake currently knows to sit, especially for his meals; we are working on 'come' and 'stay' and also 'down.' He likes to try and give everyone he sees a hug! Happy to report Jake is potty trained, and is crate-trained. He gets about an hour walk every morning...a highlight of his day, and loves to run at the park with guidance. He would love a back yard to run around in and play keep away and fetch! Jake is wonderful with other dogs, and loves to play tug-of war; He has gotten along beautifully with my 2 female boxers. Super friendly, and would be happy cuddling all day as long as there was a chew toy or bone in reach. Currently sleeps through the night on a large dog bed in the room, or on the bed and whimpers/barks when needs to potty. He's a very smart and sweet spirited dog, and would be a wonderful addition to any family that wants a loyal companion to love!
If you feel your home might be the right place for such a great dog - the place to start is with the adoption application found at www.dfwrescueme.org/adopt. Once submitted, the foster will contact you promptly to tell you more and to arrange a time to meet!
The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $250.00, which includes their vaccinations and spay/neuter.
Jake is participating in the DFW Rescue Me Guest Dog Program, so ongoing care and custody are provided by their foster, not by DFWRM.
