Our rescue will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express Saturday, October 22nd from 1-4pm and Sunday, October 23rd from 12-3pm. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated and microchipped.
* If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. * We do not have a facility. All dogs live in foster homes. Arrangements to meet dogs occur after an approved application has been accepted. * We do not ship our dogs for any reason. * Our adoption fee is $400 for each dog/puppy. * If it is on a weekend of our adoptions, follow us on @DPSRescue on Twitter to get real time updates on our adoptions. We will also post at the end of the evening the names of those dogs who have been adopted: www.facebook.com/DPSRescue
This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, October 22nd from 1-4pm and Sunday, October 23rd from 12-3pm or until adopted. However, we do meet with those who submit an application and are approved just prior to the event (by invitation only) and they are given the first opportunity to adopt. If you are interested in one of our dogs, we recommend filling out an application prior to the event to be considered. Applications submitted within 24 hours of the event may not necessarily be reviewed.
Esmeralda (Esme) is a 1 year old Lhasa-Poodle mix. She weighs 11.20lbs. She was a rescue from the shelter. She was an absolute mess when she was rescued from the shelter. Her coat was matted from the tip of her head to the bottom of her toes. It took 2 groomers to finish her grooming. Poor girl. But boy oh boy does she clean up well! She has a beautiful non-shedding coat that is an option for those who have allergies or simply want a dog who doesn't shed. She will require regular grooming and we will be seeking a home that understands her grooming needs.
Esme is extremely shy. It will take a new home that is confident in their dog abilities but also are very patient. She is not a dog who just needs to be loved enough. Love doesn't 'cure' shyness. She needs a confident, well skilled guardian who will help bring her out of her shyness and help her blossom into a confident dog.
Esme gets along well with other dogs. She currently lives with other dogs. She is crate trained. She gets along well with cats. If there are kids in the home they must be over the age of 10 and have had a dog in the home. A new home must have had a dog in the last 3 years.
**Not all of our dogs go to each adoption event. We want to make sure if you are interested in a dog that we have the dog at adoptions but that can only happen if you fill out an application ahead of time and are pre-approved. (Generally this must happen prior to the weekend)
**If you are wanting to submit an application within 24 hours of an event, please print off the application and bring with you as well as submitting it. You may still submit it and if time and volunteers permit, we will contact you. Most applications submitted the weekend of adoptions are not responded to until after the adoption weekend.
