Facts about Poco

  • Breed: Macaw
  • Color: Unknown
  • Age: Unknown
  • Sex: Female
Poco is a 21 year old hahns macaw. She is a big chatterbox, and loves to be in the heart of the conversation. People often think they want a talking bird. It's certainly an adorable trait and the words spoken are often very situation appropriate. At the same time, be prepared for repetition and lots of chatter, which doesn't help if you work from home. However, if you are looking for a bird to converse with regularly, Poco will keep you entertained!
Phoenix Landing's primary areas of operation include: Maryland (MD), Washington (DC), Virginia (VA), and North Carolina (NC). All potential adopters/fosters must attend one of our free educational seminars, have a brief in-home visit. For this reason, adoptions and fosters are limited to our locations in MD, DC, VA, NC, SC, TN, and close surrounding areas (including bordering locations in PA, DE, WV). If you live beyond our adoption areas, we encourage you to locate a non-profit adoption organization in your area. Many parrots need our help!

About Phoenix Landing Foundation Asheville NC

About Our Rescue Group...

The Phoenix Landing Foundation (PL) is a non-profit all-volunteer organization. PL promotes and protects the welfare of parrots, especially those with an extensive lifespan. We provide for parrots of all types in need, and act as advocates for those without protection. Visit our website at http://www.phoenixlanding.org for more information. We also sponsor great educational seminars! All are welcome (please do not bring your birds or other pets). Most of PL's classes are free, although of course we always welcome donations.

Come Meet Our Pets...

.Most of our birds are being fostered in private homes in the MD, VA, NC, SC, and DC area. Sometimes, we have foster families bring their birds to these events for prospective adopters to meet them.

Our Adoption Process...

We require:
- An Adoption Application
- A brief in-Home Visit with you and your family (for birds larger than a cockatiel)
- Attendance at an Intro class (recommended for all, required for birds larger than a cockatiel). For large birds (macaws, cockatoos, amazons, greys, eclectus, etc.) we also require an Advanced class.
- An Adoption Fee (for birds larger than a cockatiel) -- adoption fees vary, larger birds have higher fees
