Ebony and Ivory are two little ones that could easily be called Yin and Yang as they sleep together curled up like the symbol. Ebony is the braver of the two and is easy to handle. Ivory is more shy. Both will need someone who will handle them gently and consistently to encourage interaction with human friends. Visit them at our Surrey Centre at 16748 50th Avenue from Noon - 5:30 daily except Mondays (closed).

Gerbils are energetic pets who require an attentive and consistent guardian. You will need to create a suitable habitat for these desert animals, and they will give you lots of entertainment as they create and decorate their home. About BC SPCA - Surrey Education & Adoption Centre

About Our Shelter...

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
