I am Cookie and I am a 3-month old black kitten. I am here at the shelter with my siblings, Chip and Cake. We came to the shelter when we were only 3 weeks old and lived in a foster home to get big and strong. We are now ready for adoption. I'm the quiet one. I like to sit up high and watch what is going on around me. I do love to explore my surroundings though. There is so much to see and do in the world.  Anyway, I would love to go home with you and make your house a home. Come on out and get that application ready, because you know you want me!!!

About Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter

About Our Shelter...

We are an animal shelter that cares for approximately 1,000 animals per year. We work with Mahaska County and the City of Oskaloosa, IA to provide animal control services and we also work through the Mahaska Humane Society to educate and promote responsible pet ownership as well as low cost spay/neuter services for low income pet owners.

Come Meet Our Pets...

The public can visit our adoptable pets at the Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter any time during normal business hours. We are open to the public Tuesday-Friday 11am-5pm and Saturday 11am-4pm.

Our Adoption Process...

Potential adopters must complete a pre-adoption application in which questions regarding responsible pet ownership are asked. Once approved the adopter is allowed to adopt and must pay an adoption fee which varies based on the age and species of the animal being adopted. At the time of adoption the adopter must sign an adoption contract. All animals are spayed or neutered prior to adoption.
