~~Elementary My Dear - Digit (polydactyl)

A former foster for Heartland called me about a mom and babies living under the bushes outside of the school she works at.  It is very close to a busy street and the babies were getting more and more mobile and it would not be long before the unthinkable happened.  Mama kitty started out seeming very feral but as they continued feeding them all she started rubbing their legs, let them pick up the babies, and was calm and quiet and appreciative of all the food and attention.  I had her pick up the kitties and bring them to me to be fostered.  Mama is a slender and quiet gray tabby with six toes on the front and six toes on the back, known as a polydactyl kitty.  She had five babies and three of them inherited this trait from her and two did not.  One is a silver gray tabby male and four are black siblings with two boys and two girls.  The kitten started out with shorter hair but as they are growing up most seem to be developing medium hair, much fluffier and the black ones have wisps of gray hairs in the black fur and it is striking and beautiful.  All the kittens are very friendly, love to be petted and scratched and held, and certainly know how to beg for canned food!  Mama has remained quiet and is looking forward to the kids moving out on their own.  It took one day to teach mama to use a litter box and she has been perfect ever since, they jury is still out on if she is pet material though.  She tolerates my petting her for a few minutes, and then she is done!  Docile as can be, but not friendly and affectionate.   The babies are altered, up to date on kitten shots, micro chipped, negative for FIV and FeLV, and treated for parasites.  The noys are Digit #10428CLand Slippers #10429CL.  The only girl is Boston (also a Polydactyl))#10427CL,
