Edgar is a hound mix whom I adopted from Brother Wolf originally, and he is the sweetest, biggest love-bug around. He is also very high energy, and needs a yard to romp around in and friends, dog or human, to play with. Unfortunately, due to personal financial circumstances, I have found myself having to take on more and more work, leaving me with significantly less time at home to give him the play and love he deserves. We also lack a fenced area where he can run freely without constant supervision, resulting in limited play time. While I love him dearly and couldn't ask for a better buddy, it is clear that he is growing unhappy. The way things are currently does not look to be changing anytime soon for me, and unfortunately I cannot afford any dog sitters or daycare. I just want to do the best I can by him, and I think now the best option for him would be a home with a yard, and lots of people and/or another pup to play with.

Edgar is great in car rides, usually napping his way through them. He also enjoys hiking, and splashing around in shallow water (we have yet to try out swimming, but my guess is that he would love it). Frisbee and soccer are two of his favorite things, though he also loves a good ol' fashion stick to romp around with and chew on. Edgar does know basic commands, including sit, shake, and lie down. He understands the concept of stay, though he is a bit selective about when he will actually listen. We are still working on his leash manners, so he has to have his harness on while on walks. He loves meeting other dogs, and is okay with cats, though his enthusiasm can be a bit much for felines. He loves to cuddle up at night, though he is fine sleeping in a separate room from his humans if he has to.
Edgar is just a big love bug who wants nothing more than to run around with his humans and other animal buddies all day long, and to be able to snuggle up with them or show off his toys in the evenings. A fenced yard is ideal, and while he is sweet as can be I would not recommend a home with young children. Edgar tends to forget how strong he is, and that little humans are not durable as teens and adults. If you are looking for an active, clever, and adoring young pup, Edgar may just be the guy for you! Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions, or if you would like to meet him. Thank you!

All Brother Wolf animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations before adoption (if species appropriate).
Application and counseling is required prior to all adoptions.

Individuals interested in adopting a puppy are STRONGLY encouraged to download and read this FREE ebook. Even if you've raised puppies in the past, this is an invaluable resource to help make your new addition successful!

Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label.

About Brother Wolf Animal Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Brother Wolf Animal Rescue is known for their excellence in matching people with the best dog or cat that would suit their lifestyle. Today we are proud to have the largest NO-KILL shelter in Asheville. Brother Wolf Animal Rescue was established in 2006. We started off as a very small group of people, taking dogs and cats from gassing shelters in GA. We found wonderful homes for these animals but realized while we were saving these particular animals, we had a much bigger problem in our community that we needed to face. Perfectly healthy, highly adoptable animals in our community are being euthanized every day. Rescued pets are not broken or damaged goods. They are wonderful animals who have ended up homeless through no fault of their own.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our facility is located at 31 Glendale Avenue in Asheville, off Swannanoa River Rd, 1/2 mile from Lowe's. Open every day.

Our Adoption Process...

All adoptions will require a contract and discussions with one of our adoption counselors. Based on the needs of the particular animal, we reserve the right to require a home visit at the discretion of the adoption counselor. All our animals will be altered before adoption and up-to-date on standard vaccinations. We do collect an adoption fee.
