Sadie's Story...
Sadie is a female, Maltese, 3 years of age. She recently arrived from Korea where she lived in a puppy mill. Sadie is being cared for in a foster home where she is learning to enjoy life as a companion pet. She is a lovely little Maltese with a soft coat of hair. She currently weighs 6 lbs which is a good adult weight for her. Sadie is sweet, calm, and gentle. She will do best in a peaceful, serene home environment where she can continue her socialization. When she was initially examined by our vet, she was diagnosed with a heart murmur. A cardiac ultrasound revealed a mild heart valve problem so she is taking a medication once a day. She does not need further treatment and does not show any sign of a heart problem.

Sadie has really blossomed in her foster home going from being fearful and shy to a happy little girl who enjoys cuddling with her foster mom. She really likes to accompany her foster family on neighborhood walks. Sadie is showing some improvement with house training. She recently had her teeth cleaned, is current on her shots and has a microchip. Sadie will thrive in a home with an experienced dog person where she can continue her socialization and receive love and affection that she so deserves.

You can meet Sadie this SATURDAY, Oct. 22nd, at UNLEASHED BY PETCO in Scripps Ranch, 10625 Scripps Poway Parkway, San Diego, CA 92131 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sadie, a San Diego Maltese dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Maltese for sale in San Diego, or seeking a Maltese dog from a breeder in San Diego.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in San Diego already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a San Diego breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Maltese breeders who help with Maltese rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in San Diego paves the way for another one to be saved.
