We welcome specific questions. Due to high volume of applications, we may not be able to respond immediately. Your patience is appreciated.

If an animal is on our website, it is still available but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, it is in your best interest to submit an application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process.

We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.

As an all-volunteer, foster home based organization, ARF does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals. The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we must give priority to pre-approved applicants.

ARF is happy to introduce Bernard.  He is a quirky 3 pound, 3 year old Yorkshire terrier and is cute as a button!  Bernard’s foster family is so excited that he is ready to find his forever home.  He was surrendered to ARF over a year ago having not experienced human touch or love for the better part of his young life.  Bernard has blossomed with the help of ARF and his foster family.  Bernard is looking for a family that has a little place in their hearts that he can fill but also a lot of patience.  As we said, Bernard is a little quirky.  He has many oddities that have stemmed from his early years with little socialization.  Despite being only 3 pounds, Bernard snacks all day long.  He has a unique way of tossing a bit of kibble then slowly eating it.  He requires patience when coming back in the house - he does not like to go in the sliding door.  He can be picked up and carried in, or patiently "herded" inside.  Bernard has only recently become comfortable with wearing a collar and has never been on a leash.  He is extremely afraid of new people, sudden movements, and vacuum cleaners.  He is a challenge to exam at the vet and requires a sedated grooming.  But give him a few weeks and show him the same type of love and patience his foster family has, and you will see him start craving your touch, welcoming you with a few barks when he hears your voice, and curling up on your lap as you watch TV.  Bernard’s perfect family would be a calm house where someone will be home most of the day.  Bernard is not potty trained but with frequent trips outside it can be managed and potentially learned.  He will occasionally go on a potty pad, but it's more by chance than on purpose.  Families with children under 12 will not be considered due to Bernard’s size and disposition.   Bernard’s adoption will be focused on finding him the best possible forever family to ensure his continued progress and growth.

Bernard is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and neutered.  Bernard' s adoption fee is $400.   A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you're interested in adopting Bernard fill out an online application today! Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting.

If you’re invited to meet an animal, plan to arrive on time or early,
as we cannot hold animals.

All household members must be present at time of adoption, including dogs.

 We appreciate your cooperation.
