* If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, for an application. * We do not have a facility. All dogs live in foster homes. Arrangements to meet dogs occur after an approved application has been accepted. * We do not ship our dogs for any reason. * Our adoption fee is $400 for each dog/puppy. * If it is on a weekend of our adoptions, follow us on @DPSRescue on Twitter to get real time updates on our adoptions. We will also post at the end of the evening the names of those dogs who have been adopted:

This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, January 21st from 1-4pm and Sunday, January 22nd from 12-3pm or until adopted. However, we do meet with those who submit an application and are approved just prior to the event (by invitation only) and they are given the first opportunity to adopt. If you are interested in one of our dogs, we recommend filling out an application prior to the event to be considered. Applications submitted within 24 hours of the event may not necessarily be reviewed.

Rex is a 2 year old JRT mix. We were asked by a friend to take him in. He was previously living with dogs and cats. He lived in pretty sad conditions. He was originally bought so he could be a therapy dog for a child in the home. Unfortunately they did not follow through on socializing him outside the home or any of the necessary training. But he has a new chance to start over with us!

Rex is on the quieter side. He is not a typical high energy JRT. He is sensitive. He's best suited for a home with older kids and/or adults who have dog experience and are willing to give him time to acclimate. He's not the type to jump into your arms right away. He spent the the first day and a half just hanging out in his crate (by his choice). We didn't force him to interact and we didn't make him do anything. He did eventually come out, wander around and we're just beginning to see him get comfortable. It will take a week or so for him to find his way in a new home. Rex is an option to go to a home with a cat.

Rex is a lover. He is a snuggler and a cuddler. He is a lap dog. He does like playing with other dogs. He is just starting to play with the others in his foster home. He is not a barker. He is not a loud dog. He is a quiet soul. He loves fluffy beds to snuggle in.

Rex is best suited for a home that has had a dog in the last 3 years and children over the age of 11. He is an option for a home with cats.

**Not all of our dogs go to each adoption event. We want to make sure if you are interested in a dog that we have the dog at adoptions but that can only happen if you fill out an application ahead of time and are pre-approved. (Generally this must happen prior to the weekend)

**If you are wanting to submit an application within 24 hours of an event, please print off the application and bring with you as well as submitting it. You may still submit it and if time and volunteers permit, we will contact you. Most applications submitted the weekend of adoptions are not responded to until after the adoption weekend.

About Doggie Protective Services (DPS) - Palo Alto

About Our Rescue Group...

We are passionate folks who love dogs and love people! We strive to make the most appropriate match between human and canine. Because our dogs live in foster homes we know about their temperament and personality and therefore can help families and individuals decide if the dog is a good match or not. We are excited to help people find the right pooch for them and look forward to meeting great folks and welcoming them into the DPS Family.
