My name is Mitzu. I have been around dogs and they still scare me a bit because of my size, but after a couple hours, I think they are great. I am very friendly and vocal. I will come to your bedside in the morning and tell you it's time to feed me, I just want to make sure you don't forget. My favorite thing to eat is cheese, I go nuts for it! I don't really like to share so make sure you have plenty. I am great with sharing toys though. My favorite toy is my purple feather wand. It turns me into a turbo kitty! I will run around and around chasing it. After all that play, there is nothing better than snuggling up in your lap. If you want to hear more, talk to my foster mom! I am the only surviving kitten from my litter but I love other kittens so much I need a feline best friend at my new home.If you are interested in adopting a CAWS pet, please fill out an online application at

About Community Animal Welfare Society

About Our Rescue Group...

Founded in 1992 the Community Animal Welfare Society ( CAWS) is one of the oldest no-kill animal rescues in Utah. Over the last 20 years CAWS, our fosters and supporters have saved thousands of lives including over 600 last this year. As the largest foster home network in the state of Utah we focus on high risk pets in need of additional care and rehabilitation

Come Meet Our Pets...

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.

Our Adoption Process...

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at, email or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.
