Rosita, Daryl and Mchonne (adopted) came to us about 3-4 weeks old. They were sent into foster care until they were old enough to eat on their own. During her time in foster, her care taker noticed that Rosita was more on the reserved side; she was cautious of others but warmed up very quickly. Rosita loved to take naps with you; you would usually find her cuddled up near your head, neck or face, but when awake and playing she had a tendency to want to play alone or with her siblings.
Since she has been back at the shelter, she and the others were fighting a virus that sadly left them alone for majority of the day. Now completely healthy and cleared by the vet they are doing well and are ready to find their forever homes. But because of this time not being able to spend with the staff or volunteers she resorted back into her shell. She is weary of people and will scope you out from afar at first, slowly taking steps towards you to check you out further. She is still young and very playful and we are confident that with the right owners to give her time to adjust and all the love possible she will be one that will never be forgotten! She is truly a sweet heart and once she is settled into her new home, you will be so glad you chose her!
Rosita is a beautiful medium to long hair orange tabby that is spayed and up to date on age appropriate shots.

*Per JSAC policy, puppies and kittens under 6 months will not be adopted to families with children under the age of 6 years.

Jersey Shore Animal Center is committed to the care of unwanted, abandoned, sick animals and to the adoption of these animals to responsible, loving homes. To that end, veterinary care is provided as needed, medication and inoculations are given and neutering/spaying is done prior to adoption unless the animal's health or age precludes this procedure.

In addition, a compassionate staff tends to providing for each animal's physical and emotional needs, taking care to keep each one sheltered, clean, well-fed and socialized.

Adoption Process

Our friendly, knowledgable team of staff and volunteers would be glad to give you a tour of the shelter and discuss whether one of our furry friends is the right match for your home.

The JSAC has careful policies on the placement of young animals, dominant breed dogs (Rottweilers, Shepherds, Akitas, etc). Due to our lifelong return policy we prefer to adopt our pets locally, so we don't adopt out of state. We prefer homes in the region so that we can be a resource for the animals and their adopters. These policies and procedures are in place to protect everyone involved and are very common when rehoming animals, whether through a shelter or a rescue group.

We do not have "same day" adoptions. Rather, an application for an animal is reviewed to ensure that 1) the home has taken good care of their other animals * 2) The animal is permitted in the home and 3) that it is the right home for the right animal (choosing dog that likes cats if cats already in household, etc..). Typically this process takes 24-48 hours. If a dog application is approved and there are other dogs in the home, we have the two (or more) dogs meet; many times if necessary.
