Lucille's Story...
Honey, are you going to take me home? My name is Lucille, after Lucille Ball because I'm a pretty redhead who loves to make you laugh! I came into the shelter as a stray, and now that I've adjusted to the swing of things here, I am blossoming into a wonderful companion for my lucky adopter. I enjoy toys, though I haven't quite figured out what their purpose is, and have been known to chow down on some tasty treats. As you might be able to tell, I came into the shelter very thin, so all those extra snacks are helping me reach a nice, healthy weight. I do seem to be a bit shy at first, and can be overwhelmed by loud noises, fast movements, and that sort of thing. Therefore, I would do best in a household without very young children (8 and up). I'll tell you what really brings me out of my shell though- other dogs! I would be very happy in a home with another canine companion, especially and energetic hound like me. If you have other dogs you think might like a new playmate, just talk to the shelter about arranging a time for us to all meet. So what do you say? Are you ready for a lifetime of love and laughter? If the answer is yes, then stop by the shelter today!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lucille, a Harrisonburg English (Redtick) Coonhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a English (Redtick) Coonhound for sale in Harrisonburg, or seeking a English (Redtick) Coonhound dog from a breeder in Harrisonburg.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Harrisonburg already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Harrisonburg breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even English (Redtick) Coonhound breeders who help with English (Redtick) Coonhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Harrisonburg paves the way for another one to be saved.
