Felicia's Story...
Hey there! My name's Felicia and I'm so excited to meet you. At only 10 months old, I'm still a bit of a teenager. As such I have a ton of energy, and even more love to give. I'm definitely a playful, energetic kind of girl and would love a family who is as active as I am. Bonus points if that includes a fenced in yard. My energy level means I have a ton of potential, and given my responsive, food-motivated nature I am sure to blossom if given the appropriate training and socialization. Speaking of food, did I mention how much I LOVE to eat? I get so excited about food that I'm not too inclined to share, so would likely do best in a home without very small children (5 and up). Another thing that I get really jazzed about is playing with other pups. I've been doing well with the play groups here at the shelter, and should be able to transition in a multi-dog household. If you do have other pups though, please talk to the SPCA about arranging a meet-and-greet before taking me home. Well, that about sums me up! Happy-go-lucky hound looking for a fresh start. Think that might be with you? Stop by today and find out!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Felicia, a Harrisonburg Black and Tan Coonhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Black and Tan Coonhound for sale in Harrisonburg, or seeking a Black and Tan Coonhound dog from a breeder in Harrisonburg.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Harrisonburg already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Harrisonburg breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Black and Tan Coonhound breeders who help with Black and Tan Coonhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Harrisonburg paves the way for another one to be saved.
