“I took Shadow home & she was so loveable. Didn't get a picture but she’s a medium size black lab mix (looks full lab to me) and will lick you to death! She was great with my 2 smaller dogs but thought cats would be a fun thing to chase. Think it was the first time she came face to face with a cat. Might take some time to get used to but a great dog for anybody and will greet you with so much love every time you walk in the door. Two thumbs up for this sweet girl!” –Cynthia S.Please visit our website, www.colonialcapital.org to fill out an application today!

About Colonial Capital Humane Society

About Our Rescue Group...

The mission of Colonial Capital Humane Society is to rescue and relieve the suffering of abused, abandoned, and stray animals; provide for their care until forever homes can be found; and create greater public awareness of the importance of spaying and neutering and humane treatment of animals.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our shelter is located at 1860 Old Airport Road in New Bern, NC. Since we are an all-volunteer organization, appointments are required to visit our available pets.

We have adopt-a-thons several times a year at PetSense (located beside Harris Teeter) in New Bern.

Our Adoption Process...

The adoption application is located on our website. Home visits will be made and vet references must be provided. There is an adoption fee on all animals that helps to offset the cost of veterinary care and spay/neuter of the animal. The basic adoption fee is $150 for cats and $175 for dogs. This fee may vary depending on the pet. Please contact adoptions@colonialcapital.org for more information.
