Alaskan Malamutes are warm and friendly, playful, gentle, intelligent and silly. Their exquisite beauty is the result of centuries of adaptation to the harsh Arctic climate where they lived as close companions to the Mahlemut Eskimos, pulling heavy sledges over terrible terrain in harsh weather.

Malamutes shed twice a year and should be brushed regularly. Since they are so large, they should never be left alone with small children unsupervised, though this is true of any dog.

Malamutes participate in many sports such as backpacking, weight-pulling, carting, sojourning and competition obedience. Their best-known feature is their extraordinary sweetness of temperament.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

MYAGI, a Seattle Alaskan Malamute dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Alaskan Malamute for sale in Seattle, or seeking a Alaskan Malamute dog from a breeder in Seattle.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Seattle already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Seattle breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Alaskan Malamute breeders who help with Alaskan Malamute rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Seattle paves the way for another one to be saved.
