Riley's Story...
Okay, how's this (feel free to trim as you think appropriate):

Riley is a small terrier mix, about 2 years old. He's 13 lbs. but needs to gain a pound or two. Not hyper, but has a lot of energy and needs an active home. He doesn't live with kids or cats in his foster home, but has been great with all the kids he's met and paid no attention to several crates full of mewing kittens at his last vet visit. He's great with other dogs and would love a doggie companion to run and play with. He adores squeaky toys!

Riley doesn't know basic commands, but he's eager to please and his sweet nature makes him easy to live with. He'd love an obedience class. He's mostly house-trained, but needs coaxing to go outside in the rain. He gets very excited in the car so needs a contained area. He's okay on leash and getting better with practice. He takes treats nicely and hasn't shown any food aggression towards people or other dogs. He's slightly hand-shy but wants to trust and is gaining confidence quickly in a loving home. He will bond deeply with his forever person.

Riley is a sweet, happy, active boy who will thrive with a little patience and a lot of love.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Riley, a Salem Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) for sale in Salem, or seeking a Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) dog from a breeder in Salem.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Salem already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Salem breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) breeders who help with Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Salem paves the way for another one to be saved.
