Hi. My name is Shorty, Shorty Long. I consider myself a distinguished elderly gentleman with a heart of gold. Even though I may not move very quickly, I will quickly work my way into your heart. I love short to moderate walks at sunset, lying next to my foster parents while watching tv or, you know, just lying down in general. After years of experience, I've learned that laying low puts you in a prime position to get all the cuddles - which are the best. I may be a low key kind of guy but when I'm ready I can give those young whippersnappers a run for their money. Every once in a blue moon I like to do my happy run from the living room all the way to the kitchen. It's a lot, I know. I do it for my humans. It seems to make them smile. But you know what really gets me moving? When my foster parents fill up my bowl with that yummy good smelling food. I don't know where they get it from. It just seems to magically appear whenever they stand in front of the sink. I just can't help but do a little wiggle waggle when it's time for food. Its. The. Best. I will say, I have had a full life. Now, I'm just looking for someone who wants a low key companion with a goofy smile and a lot of love to give me a place to call home.

About The Maryland SPCA

About Our Shelter...

The Maryland SPCA connects wonderful pets to loving owners. We are not affiliated with any national animal organization, and we do not receive any government or United Way funding. Our mission is to prevent cruelty and neglect of animals through fostering the humane relationship between animals and people. We operate primarily in the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan area.

To make sure that our dogs and cats do not contribute to the pet overpopulation problem, every one is spayed or neutered before going into a new home. The cost is included in the adoption fee, as are the costs of shots and other necessary care. In addition, a free Positive Pooch class is available to our dog adopters.

There is no set time limit for how long an animal can remain in our adoption program. As long as an animal maintains general good health and a sound temperament, we keep him or her until adopted. We pride ourselves on providing premium care to the animals in a clean, pleasant environment. Our adoption staff works diligently to pair up adopters with the best animal match for their homes and lifestyles.

We transport animals from other shelters to our adoption center to help more animals get adopted. We also help pet owners find new homes for their pets so their animals don’t need to enter shelter care.
