Acorn's Story...
Little Acorn is just the best little dog. She looks like a schnauzer mix. She is approx 8 years old and 12 lbs. She is quiet and well behaved, gets along with the other dogs, and she likes to wander in the yard and then seek out a doggie bed to curl up in. She loves attention and would be a great companion for someone that can take her on walks and give her lots of TLC. She seems to be leash and house trained. She does have some dry eye and she is on eye drops twice a day. A home with adults would be preferable as she enjoys the quiet life.

The total adoption donation of $475 and includes the required interstate health certificate and transport , spay/neuter, shots including rabies, bordatella, parvo, lepto, distemper and canine influenza, and micro chip with a lifetime pre paid registration. The total amount is payable to Shaggy Dog Rescue which is a 501c3. Some of our dogs are still in Texas in foster care. The application is online at http://houstonshaggydogrescue.org/application-process/

Just as a note, if you are in Massachusetts and are adopting directly from Texas rather than from a local foster, there are new quarantine laws in effect. All rescues must be quarantined 48 hours at a state run facility, and in addition, a second interstate health certificate is required to be issued by a Massachusetts vet. This new law may add an additional cost.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Acorn, a Woonsocket Schnauzer (Miniature) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Schnauzer (Miniature) for sale in Woonsocket, or seeking a Schnauzer (Miniature) dog from a breeder in Woonsocket.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Woonsocket already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Woonsocket breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Schnauzer (Miniature) breeders who help with Schnauzer (Miniature) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Woonsocket paves the way for another one to be saved.
