This sweet baby girl is named Izzy.  She is a 5 month old (as of Sept., 2016) Labrador Retriever Mix.  We have no idea what she is mixed with, but she must have inherited those ears from the other side of the family!!  Izzy currently weighs approximately 30 pounds , and is expected to be a medium sized dog when completely grown.  Her estimated adult weight is 50-60 pounds.

She is too young to be spayed, so that will be the responsibility of her new family once she is at least 9 months old.  MMR will follow up with her new family to make sure this is done, and this will also be part of her adoption contract.  Like most pups, Izzy is a big, happy goof ball who is full of kisses.  She loves to play, eat and sleep.....usually in that order.  She is fine with other dogs, as most puppies are, and would benefit from having another friendly, playful dog in her new home.  In fact, MMR is requiring that her adoptive family have such a companion already in the home for Izzy to pal around with as she grows.  Izzy is also a top notch smuggler, and enjoys time on the couch with her person.  She needs her exercise to burn off some of that puppy energy, but once she is tired, she is happy to lay down and take a nap.

MMR is seeking a home for this little lady who has someone who is a stay at home parent, or who works part time.  Puppies take a great deal of time, patience and love.  Izzy, like most pups her age is not house trained, but she is learning quickly with a consistent schedule.  She is also learning about leash manners, and will require additional work in that area.   MMR has not tested Izzy with children, but based on her personality and her gentle nature, we believe she will be a great companion for children over the age of 10 years.  Given her energy now, and her expected weight at adulthood, we will not place her in a home with younger children or toddlers.  She has also not been tested with cats.

MMR is also requiring that Izzy be placed in a single family home-no apartment homes or condos.

You can save animals like this one by becoming a foster home for a dog in need! Fosters are like way stations between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save dogs before they are euthanized at the shelters. If you are interested in becoming a foster, please check out our information about fostering on our website:

MMR covers the vet care, food, and tools to get started. You supply the love. Fostering saves lives. Sometimes a foster home is the only thing standing between life and death.

About Mutts Matter Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

A Little History... Mutts Matter Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non profit, all volunteer based organization, with combined rescue experience of over 15 years. We work in conjunction with shelters and other organizations to help save animals on death row, the strays on the street, or ones in unsafe living conditions. We adopt in the DC, VA, and MD areas, with a few exception out of the tri-state area depending on the dog and situation. We are driven by love, compassion, and hope.

All of our rescues enter their new home spayed or neutered, up to date on all shots, and are micro-chipped. If we take a dog into our rescue, we do our very best to ensure that they are healthy before going to their new “furever”home. With enough hard work and dedication, we hope to be able to empty the shelters one day soon.

Our Adoption Process...

We require you to fill out an adoption application on our website at
The application will ask for both a vet and personal reference. Both will need to be verified. After those are checked, a pre-screener contacts you to discuss your application.
Once that is complete, they screener decides if they are recommended for a home visit. If the home visit goes well and they are approved to adopt, then they can meet the dog.
Our adoption fee includes the cost of routine vetting, spay/neuter, and microchipping.
