The Sanctuary is a small, privately run, non-profit (501(c)3) organization. We have had our tax-exempt status since 2000.
We care for and place relinquished or abandoned dogs and cats.
The Sanctuary is an ALL volunteer place and we always need help--both financial and physical.
We started in 1999 and place an average of 60 animals per year.
In addition to caring for and placing pets, we provide 'Safe Dog Approach' and 'Responsible Pet Ownership' classes to schools, churches, day-care facilities and any other interested group.

Our Adoption Process...
No animal leaves the Sanctuary without a minimum of the following: Interview—after you contact the Sanctuary you will be called by a board member and interviewed over the phone. Visit to the Sanctuary—by the adopting person &/or family. If you live too far away, extensive telephone & email contact with the adoption coordinator is required. Home visit—by a Board Member if you are local to Lubbock OR a person from a rescue organization in your area contacted by the Sanctuary.
Our adoption fee is $125.00 which includes the pet’s spay/neuter, current vaccinations and microchip.
Thank You! Your message has been sent to Le'Land's Heart Sanctuary.
You'll receive a copy, too, at
to help you keep track of which pets you've inquired about, and which shelters and rescues you've emailed.
NOTE: Some shelters have physical locations you can visit; some of these shelters may only have pets for a limited time, so please do not wait for a reply—just go visit the shelter!
Other organizations are rescue groups run by busy volunteers who may take a while to reply. You can find information about the shelter or rescue group caring for this pet, and their adoption procedures,
on the pet's details page on Adopt-a-Pet.com.
