Here's what the humans have to say about me:
VanDyke is a young redtick American English Coonhound from Virginia. He's gentle and friendly, good with other dogs. Vandyke would do best with another dog in the home for companionship.
He's got a lot of energy and enjoys his outside time, so he'd be a good companion for an active owner. Vandyke is working on some obedience training in his foster home. Like many of our southern hounds, it's likely that Van was an outside dog and did not have a lot of great interactions with humans. He's doing well with socializing and feeling comfortable around new people and groups of strangers encountered on outings. This is all sort of new to him. He's very attached to those he knows well and is affectionate and loving. We have seen this pattern many times before and Van offers a rewarding opportunity for an adopter who can give Van some TLC and continued training - and watch him blossom into a confident and well-behaved dog. Vandyke is about 2 yrs old and weighs about 45 - 50 lbs. He has arrived and is ready for visits eouth of Boston.
