Sometimes a pet owner can do everything right, and still have to make the heartbreaking decision to find them a new home. Such is the case with Advent (Addie for short).

Addie is a much loved 7 year old girl who is looking for a quiet home. For the first three years of her life, it was just her and her mom.  They bonded strongly, and Addie was a happy girl. Then her mom got married, and Addie loved her dad, and she continued to be a happy girl.

When she was five, she became a big sister to a human sibling. Her parents had kept up with her training until this point, and even went a step further and took her to "ready for baby" class. Everything was fine until the baby became mobile.  It turns out that little people who toddle, laugh, and play make her very nervous.  There haven't been any negative incidents, it's just that she is always tense and can't relax and be herself.  Her second human sibling will be born soon, and after much discussion and advice from their vet, they've determined that the best course of action for Addie is to find her a new home where she can be happy.

Addie is a low key, people friendly girl. She has been through multiple training classes and is very well mannered. She walks well on a leash and does well walking around in public. She is very picky about her dog friends, and has never met any cats. Because of this, she is looking for a home where she is the only pet. She does have some allergies that are controlled with medication, and chicken has been eliminated from her diet.

Addie's ideal living situation would be one similar to what she had during the first 3 years of her life.  A  single person or a couple who dotes on her would be perfect, but she would also do well with a family if there are children over the age of eight.

You can learn more about Addie by visiting the website her parents set up for her at

If at any time after the initial two weeks you find that you are no longer able to keep your dog, you will have the option to place him or her in a new home of your choosing, and we will follow up with a new adoption contract. If you have not chosen an adopter for your dog, we ask that you keep the dog with you while we work to find a new home. If there is a timeline that needs to be met, we ask that you give us as much notice as possible to find a new family placement.

When you adopt a dog from us, you become part of our family, and we will be there to support you for the lifetime of your dog. We hope that you will be inclined to join us on our mission to save shelter dogs, educate the public, and support other dog owners!
