Barney's Story...
Hi I’m Barney and I have a favor to ask…just look into my eyes…keep looking…you’re getting sleepy…very sleepy…now, WAKE UP because you want to adopt me! I’m approximately 8 months old, up-to-date on vaccinations, neutered, microchipped and my guess is I'm a Lab/Shepherd/herding breed mix. The vet told my foster mom, I’m going to be a big boy - probably 55+ pounds. I love playing with my foster dog & cat friends but I'm still a high-energy puppy so sometimes I get on the older dogs nerves and they don't want to play with me. When I’m not playing, I’m cuddling with my awesome foster mom and dad. I’m walking well on the leash, learning simple commands, crate trained and house trained. I’ve been thinking a lot about my perfect family and am now taking applications. The perfect candidate/s should be semi-active to active as I think I would enjoy a nice walk through a neighborhood park or playing at a local dog park. They should like the outdoors like me – maybe we can go running, hiking or camping, but I would also love chasing a ball in my very own back yard. If you think you’re my perfect match, please submit an application on the Adoption page at: www.dirtroaddoggiesrescue.org. Don’t forget to mention my name.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Barney, a Gillsville Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Labrador Retriever puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Labrador Retriever for sale in Gillsville, or seeking a Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Labrador Retriever puppy from a breeder in Gillsville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Gillsville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Gillsville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Gillsville paves the way for another one to be saved.
