OCT 9, 2016:

I’m Ruby, a three-ish-year-old pug mix, and I’m looking for my forever human. Short-haired, black with a white throat, and weighing in at less than 20 pounds, I’m the perfect size for almost anything. Feel like taking a nap? I LOVE to snuggle! Need a little exercise? Let’s take a walk! Worried about missing your favorite show? Pass the popcorn, please! I don’t care where we go or what we do as long as I get to be with you.

Here are few things you should know about me. I’m a special girl with some special needs. I herniated two disks in my back a few months back and had to have surgery so it’s very important that I keep my weight in check. While I regained my mobility following my surgery (you should see me run!!), I haven’t yet regained full control over my bladder or bowels so I have to wear a diaper. But don’t let this discourage you!! My foster family has the diaper routine down to a science, and it’s NO. BIG. DEAL In fact, if I were more comfortable being part of a pack, they’d make our relationship permanent, diaper or not.

That’s the main thing you should know – I get along well with other dogs, but I’d really prefer to be your one and only. Cats are overly interesting to me, so I should go to a cat-free home, as well. I’m crate-trained, up-to-date on my shots and ready for my forever home. My foster mom won’t let me date without a chaperone, but she’s happy to bring me out for a meet and greet. Email her at or text/call her at 434-249-8608

COURTESY POSTINGS…As a community service, Nelson County Humane Society/SPCA provides courtesy postings in an effort to help unite animals needing permanent homes with prospective adopters.  Since we are a no-kill shelter and funded entirely by donations and fundraisers, to exist we are always in need of donations.  We respectfully request that adopters of courtesy posting animals consider a tax deductible contribution to our shelter via the “Donation Info” page on our website:
