Mr. Rex is a lovable 5-year-old German Shepherd. He loves everyone! He is strong and has not been trained to walk on a leash. We are working on it with him and he is smart and is learning quickly. The cutest thing he does is look right at you in the eye and talk to you! When he looks at you he has the most loving expression on his face with the most gorgeous dark brown eyes that will melt your heart! Mr. Rex was left abandoned by his family when they moved. We are so happy to be able to help him find his second chance! He will be a loyal, loving companion!

About Heartland Animal Shelter

About Our Shelter...

Heartland Animal Shelter is a no-kill humane 501 c 3 organization dedicated to finding homeless pets forever homes while educating the public on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets in order to help with the pet overpopulation problem.

Dr. Herbert Preiser, DVM and founder of Heartland Animal Shelter wanted to make a difference by saving the lives of pets who might otherwise be euthanized because of the over-population of unwanted pets. Dr. Preiser opened Heartland Animal Shelter in October of 2002.

Heartland's vision is to eliminate euthanasia to any adoptable animal. Heartland asks for your support by spreading the word about the importance of why pets should be spayed or neutered in order to prevent overpopulation of cats and dogs. Together we can make a difference!
