ARTBAR stands for A Reason To Believe Animal Rescue.
Our 501(c)(3) non-profit status is currently pending with the IRS. Once approved, donations will be tax deductible as permitted by law.
We are located in rural southwestern West Virginia and we seek assistance from rescues and adopters in northeastern states and sponsors nationwide. We are one of several rescues in the southern portion of the state and are always interested in collaborating with other rescues in our area to save lives. Volunteers are needed to foster dogs and drive on transports. The area we service is very rural and most of the animals we take in have lived their lives outdoors, though we do sometimes get surrendered indoor pets. We rescue from shelters, local strays, locally injured animals, and owner surrenders and get them the medical care they need. Donations are the lifeline of our rescue work.
Rescues: We have transport available to northeastern states. PA-based rescues, we are PA licensed. If you have not pulled from us before, please submit our rescue application and we'll be in touch soon. If you are not located in the northeast, you will need to arrange transport beginning in Lenore, WV.

Adopters: We adopt to residents of MD, PA, NJ, CT, RI, MA, VT, NH, and ME. Adoption Fee: $250. Transport fee for adopters further than 100 miles from Lenore WV: $50. All dogs are altered, vaccinated, 4DX tested, wormed, and flea treated prior to adoption. Our adoption process includes an online application, vet reference, home visit, meet-n-greet with the animal and your family/current pets, adoption contract and adoption fee. Should you ever need to give up one of our animals, they must be returned to us. We ALWAYS take our pets back.
