Hello, just a quick update on this little gal. Esmee is a senior and somewhere along her journey, she lost all her teeth! Poor sweetie! So she needs soft food, canned or dry that has been soaked in water and mashed with a fork. Then she manages quite well.
Esmee also loves her treats, of course, they too are soft ones. We have been working on all the things a doggie needs to learn when you are older and no one has bothered to teach you about "potty outside," amoug other things. But Esmee loves being outside and walks well on leash. And Esmee likes the fenced in yard so she can snoop around, and every once in a while, she gets a little excited and does a hop and run! So she still is perky!
Esmee is probably a maltese mix so she has hair that is soft as silk! And she is very sweet but is a little timid and reacts to loud noises and sudden movements. We are working on crate training, but she is not a fan, but she is slowly improving. At night she sleeps on her blanket next to my bed. She would also do well in your bed if you want.
Esmee doesn't seem to know what to do with a doggie bed or toys; it seems she was deprived of them. But her favorite thing is to be with you. She likes to lay on the floor next to you or on your lap. She does have heart worm and will need to have treatment before adoption. She will be evaluated by the vet and considering she is older (unsure as to how old, but a senior for sure), the vet will determine the best way to proceed with that care. However, she is available for "meet and greets" now (she cannot go to adoption events as it might be overwhelming for her and she needs to rest while being treated)
Esmee can be preadopted and then she will be held for you until she is well enough to go to her forever home! She will need someone very special who will love her for who she is and give her a wonderful life in her older years. Could that be you?
