Umbrella of Hope 'Be Our Pet'
Aramis comes to us from Delano Animal Control Shelter and is one of the 5 dogs we committed to take if we raised $600 last month.
Aramis Cologne was 'named after a character in the Alexandre Dumas classic “The Three Musketeers” and was intended to be a high end fragrance marketed to the mature and wealthy set' and while we can say that our Aramis is as adventurous as a musketeer, he says that he is more than happy to live with the common folk!
Aramis is a 6 month old, 11 lb Dachshund, Chihuahua and Corgi Mix NEUTERED MALE. He is also microchipped, free of parasites and vaccinated (DHLPP, rabies, Bordatella and Lyme). Since he is still growing, he is expected to reach an adult weight of 15-20 lbs.
Aramis is ALL puppy and all energy. He likes to play, play, play. That can be with other dogs or people. He is working on his focus and would be an EXCELLENT candidate for basic obedience classes. We offer a $50 refund upon proof of completion for any adopter. We would say that a first time dog owner would be HIGHLY encouraged to take him to class to the point where it will be a condition of adoption. He also is an active dog who will do best if tired out by a lot of exercise... long walks, hikes, fetch etc.
Aramis is great with other dogs, but is working on his manners. He takes correction from other dogs very well and tries very hard to please his people. He is not mean to cats, but is VERY interested in them so he would only be a good match for confident cats who would put him in his place if he was annoying them. He LOVES kids but because he is still a puppy with a puppy brain and puppy mannerisms (gentle mouthing, jumping etc), he would probably not be a good match for kids who are sensitive or afraid. All members and regular visitors should meet Aramis prior to adoption.
Aramis picked up the leash very quickly. He is good in the car and does well in the crate if given a distraction (stuffed kong etc). He is very treat and praise motivated and is quickly picking up 'sit' and going potty outside. Since he is a PUPPY, a learning curve should be expected.
If you would like to set up an appointment to meet Aramis, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you cannot adopt, but would like to sponsor all or part of Aramis's medical care and time in foster ($200) please make a tax-deductible donation at www.paypal.me/UOH or email us for an address to send a check.
Welcome to UOH, Aramis!

Umbrella of Hope is a non-profit animal rescue based out of Pittsburg, CA that rescues animals off death row from local shelters. We offer rebates of adoption fees after completion of obedience classes and CGC titles.
Also, ask us about our seniors for seniors program, where we adopt animals 5 years or older to qualified homes with a $5 donation as an adoption fee. All animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, treated for parasites and given any additional treatments (dental work, bloodwork etc) as recommended by our vet. Some of our senior animals have sponsorships for their food/vet care/medicine for the rest of their life at our vet in Pittsburg, CA (94565)
