We'd like to wish Miss Layla a belated Happy Birthday; she turned two just a few days ago. Layla's birthday present is that she will be moving to a foster home next week! Layla may be a petite girl, but she packs A LOT of energy and excitement into her little frame! Layla is high energy and needs a breed experienced home that is very structured and can give Layla the training and exercise she needs. Layla enjoys playing with other dogs and will do best in a home with another social pup. Layla plays too rough to go to a home with small children, but is fine around older children. If interested in adopting Layla, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com. To see a listing of all our available dogs, please visit our website, as well.

This beautiful, sassy girl is Layla and she is looking for her forever home! Layla is almost two years old, weighs 60lbs, and is a high energy, fun loving girl! Layla would do best in a home with another active dog as a playmate and an active family that's on the go! Layla has a good foundation in obedience training and is very sweet and affectionate. Layla does have a prey drive and we don't recommend her for a home with cats. If interested in adopting or fostering Layla, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

This beautiful girl is Layla, a 1.5yo petite female. Layla is as high energy as she is gorgeous and will need a breed experienced, very structured, very active family. Layla would love to have a very active canine playmate, as well. Even though she's a little weim, Layla plays too rough to be placed in a home with small children. If interested in adopting Layla, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

Sweet, sassy Layla continues to do well in her foster home. She's winning over her foster brother, Tico, who is pretty tolerant of her silly antics. Layla definitely needs a weim-experienced, very active, very structured family. A home where there's a mature dog to be a strong example for her would be ideal, but not required. Layla is smart as a whip and full of personality; she will make a wonderful addition to the right family! If interested in adopting Layla, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

While WRS is already gearing for some new intakes this weekend, we're excited to report that sassy little Miss Layla went to a foster home the other day and is settling in nicely. She's a sweet, spunky, very energetic girl who will need a very structured, very active forever family. She's a quick learner and lots of fun. She's also a very petite girl, weighing in at just 55lbs. If interested in adopting Layla, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com. (And we know Layla looks a little sad in the photo but we promise she's a happy, peppy girl!)

Great news for Miss Layla! She has successfully completed heartworm treatment! Even better news for Layla; this sweet girl is going to a foster to adopt family next week! Layla was rescued from a very bad situation by a Good Samaritan and then turned over to WRS so that we could treat her heartworm disease and find her a forever home. This sweet, silly, happy girl had a rough start to life, but she only has great days ahead of her! Way to go, Layla! And, if you're not protecting your dog from heartworms, please make an appointment with your vet as soon as possible and get your dog on preventative!

Beautiful Layla will be starting her heartworm treatment in the next several days. Layla was rescued from a terrible situation by a Good Samaritan, who then turned her over to WRS to help get her healthy and find a forever home. Layla is a very young, spunky girl who LOVES everything and everyone! Once medically cleared for foster/adoption, Layla will need a structured, active home who will focus on giving Layla the training and discipline that she never got in her previous life. If interested in fostering/adopting Layla or any of the wonderful dogs currently in WRS's care, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

This beautiful girl is Layla, WRS's newest rescue. Layla came to WRS via a Good Samaritan, who got Layla out of a terrible situation. Layla is a petite girl, and she's only 15 months old. Unfortunately, Layla's previous owner did not take basic care of Layla and she is heartworm positive. She will need to undergo treatment before she can be ready for adoption. As sweet as Layla is, it's obvious that Layla's previous owner never spent any time training her, either. DO NOT GET A DOG if you're not going to take care of it, not going to train it, and not going to make a 10-15 year commitment to it. Dogs are not disposable things. WRS is grateful to the Good Samaritan who got Layla to safety and we will make sure this sweet girl only has the best things in life from here on out!

About Weimaraner Rescue of the South

About Our Rescue Group...

Weimaraner Rescue of the South (WRS) is an all-volunteer, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to saving Weimaraners in need in Alabama, Mississippi, and parts of Louisiana, Tennessee, and Georgia and placing them into loving forever homes. We have been saving Weimaraners throughout our footprint for more than 10 years.

Our priority is to rescue Weimaraners who find themselves in animal controls and high-kill shelters in Alabama, Mississippi, and parts of Tennessee, Louisiana, and Georgia. All Weimaraners in our care are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and treated for any medical issues they might have including but not limited to heartworm disease, orthopedic concerns, and vision issues. Our efforts are funded by adoption fees and donations from "Weim-loving" people like you.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We are not a shelter, therefore, we are not in one central location. We place our dogs in loving foster homes throughout the deep South so we can learn about each one enabling us to adopt them to their perfect family. Alabama hosts the majority of our rescues although we do have foster homes throughout our Southern footprint. Our dogs are not available for visitors unless an adoption application has been approved for them specifically.

Our Adoption Process...

Are you ready to adopt? Make sure you do your homework on this breed before taking this step as this is not the breed for the average household and you must be committed to their needs as well as your own. Still want to add a Weimaraner to your family? Great! Fill out a WRS Adoption Application to begin the adoption process with us. You will be contacted by one of our volunteers to begin the approval process which includes a veterinary background check, phone interview, and home visit.

ADOPTION FEES: EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 1, 2016 OUR ADOPTION FEE FOR PUPPIES 6 MONTHS AND YOUNGER IS $375 WITH A $100 REFUNDABLE SPAY/NEUTER CONTRACT, $300 FOR ADULT WEIMARANERS, SENIORS AND MIXED BREEDS $225. This includes microchip, spay/neuter, and Heartworm prevention. All dogs have been fully vetted and treated for any medical issues of which we are aware.
