Facts about Scout

  • Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier Mix
  • Color: Black - With White
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
  • Sex: Male
Scout is a handsome 3 year old Am Staff mix is a southern box that came up all the way from Texas to start his new life. He would up coming into a shelter where his breed is put on a timeline, that's when we stepped in. After finding out he was heartworm treatment, we knew we needed to get him up here and healthy. Scout arrived with one of our other Southern charm dogs and went ti the vet where we found a terrible ear infection and secondary pnuemonia causing it unsafe to start treatment. He was placed on antibiotics and sent home to return in 2 weeks for his first shot. He now goes in for his last two heartworm treatment shots on October 12th and 13th. Six weeks following his last treatments he will be retested and if it comes back negative he can find his new forever family!
Scout is amazing with children and is the dog that likes to lounge and love you beyond any dog has shown you before. Scout is good with dogs but has some food aggression issues, so until we can train the behavior it is best he goes to either an experienced handler or no other dog home. He loves to play but the sound of food makes him unrelieable to not go after another dog when he hears the prep of the food bowl.
Scout is beyond fantastic and his foster loves him dearly, they say anyone who meets him falls in love. He is up to date on shots, neutered, microchipped and undergoing treatment for heartworms, in which, he will be HW- when adopted.

About Maggy's Bully Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

MBR is a team of volunteers including the director and coordinators. We strive to save as many dogs as we can with the help of our supporters, we are foster and donation based so we really can't do it without you.
MBR rescues, rehomes we also rehabilitate those in need of the extra time. Some dogs come in and fear the human touch and affection, others fear the slightest sound of a door creaking. Some of our dogs come from death row and others from a breeding operation that was going to "throw out" the dog. Others dogs of ours come in as owner surrenders, for whatever reason the owner can no longer keep them, majority of those pups come in ready to go!
We take pride in placing the dogs in the best home possible for any one particular dog. We temperament test all of our dogs before adoption all at correct, positive and safe interaction. Children, other dogs and sometimes cats are tested for positive interactions, if we don't see the reactions that are ideal then it is marked us unable to share with that particular subject in the test. When the weather permits we try to test with bikes, skateboards, motorcycles, big crowds and loud noises to see reactions as well, we get a lot of bikers so we need to make sure the dog is not afraid.
We do our best to learn about the dogs in our care to help place them in forever, learning all their little quirks. When placed in a different home canines can react differently, for that reason every adopter needs to keep an open mind until they learn the dog behaviors themselves.
We firmly believe in decompression time for dogs at a maximum of two weeks, although some can require longer. Decompression is a way for the dog to get acclimated to the new environment and learn the schedule you have placed.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Events can be found on our Facebook page a month prior to the event hosting. Any adult the age of 18 and older is welcome to volunteer at events as handlers, as well as attend play dates between dogs and encourage to join with personal dogs on pack walks with MBR adoptables!

Our Adoption Process...

When adopting through MBR, there is a process that seems a mile long but with cooperation and consistency can go rather quickly. All adoptions start with our two application forms, one form being a contract/policies agreement and the other containing the screening portion of the application, requiring personal and vet references.
If and/or when approved through the application, a home check with an MBR representative will be conducted as well as a meet and greet. If all is approved, the dog is a match for the adoptive family, the paperwork is finalized.
Our adoption fees are as follows and go back to cover as much cost of the vetting as possible, please keep in mind our vetting is usually still more than adoption fee received.
Puppies and adults are $150+tax
Seniors(7+) are $100+tax
All dogs adopted through MBR come spayed/neutered, vaccinated (rabies, distemper, parvovirus) and microchipped.
