Hello!  My name is Barnie.  I am young, healthy and full of energy.  I love to chase balls and play with any toy that you tell me is mine.  If you leave me home alone, I will pull all of my toys out of a box and chew on them, but I won't chew on anything that isn't mine.  I do need to have lots of attention and lots of exercise.   I like other dogs, but I really like to be the alpha dog.  I'm not sure how I feel about things called cats or pools, because I have never been around either of them.  I think my perfect home would be with someone who will work on some basic obedience and leash training with me, and can take me to run in the park everyday.   I might do well with a dog who will let me be the boss or teen-aged kids that I can't knock down.

Please note: it is the policy of AGR not to place a dog under 3 years of age with a family that has children under 3 years of age.

Prior to adoption, all AGR dogs are given a full vet exam, including valley fever and heartworm tests, brought up to date on all vaccinations, given a microchip, neutered or spayed, and treated for any medical problems.

About Arizona Golden Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Arizona Golden Rescue is an all-volunteer, non-profit, charitable organization whose mission is to rescue displaced Golden Retrievers and mostly-Golden mixes that may have been abused, abandoned, neglected or unwanted or surrendered by their owners due to previously unforeseen circumstances, and find new, permanent homes for them. Rescued dogs are given a complete veterinary exam and their vaccines are updated; they are also microchipped, spayed or neutered, and tested for valley fever and heartworm. AGR provides emotional and medical rehabilitation and will pay for medications and for necessary surgeries. Through education at public appearances, AGR seeks to educate the public about the Golden Retriever breed and about responsible dog ownership, in order to help reduce the unwanted dog population.

Our Adoption Process...

Please note that all adoptable dogs remain on the website until their adoptions are finalized. As hard as we try to screen the adoptable dogs and their new potential "Forever Home", there is always the possibility that the FWITA (Foster With Intent To Adopt) and the adoptable dog are not compatible and then the dog would return to adoptable status"

Application must be submitted; can be downloaded from website. Home evaluation is done. Once approved, applicant must wait for placement of dog. If fostering with intent to adopt, applicant must pay membership fee (minimum $25 for single, $40 for household) and dog's adoption fee, which ranges from $350 for 0-2-year-old, to $325 for 2-5, $300 for 5- 9 and $250 for over 9. Organization covers all vet costs while dog is in foster care and until adoption is finalized.
