Luke is a 4 year old golden mix on the smaller side at 36 pounds.  He is a shy boy and will require a kind, calm and loving home with lots of patience so that he can build confidence.   Luke bonds quickly with his “special person” and loves nothing more than to snuggle next to them on the couch.  His devotion is uncanny.  Luke can get very nervous when encountering new people or in unknown situations.  He would do best in a home with a secure yard as he needs to work on his self-assurance on leash.

Luke is housebroken and crate trained.  He gets along with cats, children and other dogs and might benefit from having a confident dog to remind him that everything is okay. If you have room in your heart and home and the desire to work with Luke, providing the love and security he requires to blossom, he will repay you with faithful devotion.

If you are interested in Luke, please visit our webpage at and complete an Online Adoption Application to begin the process, or send an e-mail to if you have questions and wish to be contacted.

Prior to adoption, all AGR dogs are given a full vet exam, including valley fever and heartworm tests, brought up to date on all vaccinations, given a microchip, neutered or spayed, and treated for any medical problems.

About Arizona Golden Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Arizona Golden Rescue is an all-volunteer, non-profit, charitable organization whose mission is to rescue displaced Golden Retrievers and mostly-Golden mixes that may have been abused, abandoned, neglected or unwanted or surrendered by their owners due to previously unforeseen circumstances, and find new, permanent homes for them. Rescued dogs are given a complete veterinary exam and their vaccines are updated; they are also microchipped, spayed or neutered, and tested for valley fever and heartworm. AGR provides emotional and medical rehabilitation and will pay for medications and for necessary surgeries. Through education at public appearances, AGR seeks to educate the public about the Golden Retriever breed and about responsible dog ownership, in order to help reduce the unwanted dog population.

Our Adoption Process...

Please note that all adoptable dogs remain on the website until their adoptions are finalized. As hard as we try to screen the adoptable dogs and their new potential "Forever Home", there is always the possibility that the FWITA (Foster With Intent To Adopt) and the adoptable dog are not compatible and then the dog would return to adoptable status"

Application must be submitted; can be downloaded from website. Home evaluation is done. Once approved, applicant must wait for placement of dog. If fostering with intent to adopt, applicant must pay membership fee (minimum $25 for single, $40 for household) and dog's adoption fee, which ranges from $350 for 0-2-year-old, to $325 for 2-5, $300 for 5- 9 and $250 for over 9. Organization covers all vet costs while dog is in foster care and until adoption is finalized.
