Otis is a big, beautiful, Basset boy and is a happy man when he has his dog friends and his people next to him. He is an active, healthy, curious boy who loves to play with other dogs, but mostly loves to be within sight of his human family. Otis has a strong Basset voice which we typically don't hear, but will ring loud and true when he misses the people in his life. Even when Otis is lonely he is not destructive, and we do come home to a quiet house - so we can't tell you how long his mournful sounds last.
He does not get on well with cats and would prefer a simpler life without felines in his home. Otis is pretty much a gentleman in our home. He is house trained, sleeps on a pillow next to the bed, and settles nicely. Being a true hound food is an important part of his life. He has an active nose and is not beyond following it to the kitchen counter.
Otis would be happiest in a home where his alone time is very limited. I think he would love a house with a yard, and maybe a canine companion.
