Name:           Mohawk

Gender:         Male
DOB:             August 2015
Description:    Orange tabby

MOHAWK is a confident, affectionate and handsome boy who LOVES, LOVES, LOVES dogs.

Mohawk's pals include a cat-friendly Goldendoodle and a Scotty. He also respects the older Golden Retriever, too. Mohawk is very fond of chasing and being chased, and plays with the Scotty as if he were a cat by sneaking up and pouncing on him.

Mohawk enjoys his foster parents' company. He has a nice purr motor and is comfortable with everyone he meets.

Mohawk needs a forever home with cat-friendly dogs. A like-minded, active male cat would be fine, too. Mohawk enjoys an active household to keep him entertained, and a place where he will receive plenty of attention.

Mohawk came into SPCA's care from a local shelter as a young kitten with his siblings (all adopted). He has been under the care of an internal medicine veterinarian for an intestional virus. He is now FULLY recovered and ready for a forever home of his own. Mohawk is sensitive to food changes and MUST stay on his current high quality, limited ingredient food. This will ensure he stays the healthy and happy kitty he is today!

About SPCA of Northern Virginia

About Our Rescue Group...

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Northern Virginia is a non-profit, all-volunteer, private organization established by local concerned citizens to rescue domestic animals from cruelty, neglect, and abandonment. We receive all our funding from membership dues, donations, and fundraising events. We are always striving to enlarge our animal rescue operations and expand our services to the community. Our voluntary Board of Directors, committee members, and volunteers are responsible for all SPCA activities. We do not have a shelter facility, and depend on foster parents to care for domestic animals until adoption.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our dogs are available to meet at twice monthly adoption events in Fairfax, VA.

Our cats are available to meet you in their foster homes
by appointment weeknights or weekends.

Our Adoption Process...

Please read our cat adoption guidelines (at We put a lot of financial and emotional support into our cats and want them placed in homes where they will be members of the family for the rest of their lives. Indoor cats, with care, can live up to 20 years. Not everyone agrees with all of our guidelines. Please read our explanations and talk to our volunteers. If you disagree with us, we suggest you adopt a cat from a different source such as a local shelter. When you adopt a cat from us, you must sign a legal contract stating that you will comply with our guidelines. The adoption fee is $150 for one cat and $250 for two.

For those interested in cat adoptions, all potential adopters must read our adoption guidelines (available on our website at, then meet the cat in person either at an Adoption Fair or in their foster home. We take applications only after you've met the cat and we both feel it's a good match.

All adopters interested in adopting a dog must meet the dog in person, and submit an application. A housecheck is done, and references are checked. If approved, the dog will be placed in the home for a two-week trial period, to make sure that it is a good "fit" for both people and dog. If it is, the adoption is finalized and the adoption fee is paid. We do not adopt outside of the Washington DC metro area.
