Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Tukka is a great dog who had a real rough start in life. His prior family didn't realize the responsibility of having a dog and unfortunately kept him crated most of the time. Animal control got involved and recommended they surrender the dog since they could not provide the time he really needed. Since he was crated so much, he did not get the foundation of basic manners we like to see at this age and he's a "work in progress" if you will. He's responded brilliantly to training while with us here and we know he will continue to shine if taken to an appropriate training class to get the rest of the basics down. He is extremely food motivated and smart, so he will be a fun dog to work with!
Due to his poor impulse control, we are recommending that he go to a home with teens+, while he is a friendly dog he can be grabby with treats and still does not understand personal space. He is over the top in play with other dogs and would do well with a very tolerant dog who can handle his exuberance. We don't think Tukka would do well with cats.If you are interested in adopting please visit the shelter or you may inquire via email - info@lowellhumanesociety.org or call 978-452-7781.
